ITINERARE Symposium 2025
The ITINERARE Symposium successfully took place on November 18th 2025 in the newly built Research Tower of the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. We enjoyed inspiring presentations, engaging discussions, and many valuable exchanges throughout the day.
The program brought together experts from a broad range of fields — from basic and translational research to clinical application, as well as the ethical, social, and legal dimensions of rare disease research. A fantastic opportunity to stay up to date with the latest developments and to discuss them with world-leading specialists.
A particularly touching moment was the contribution of a 15-year-old patient with cystic fibrosis, who shared his personal journey and how recent therapies have significantly improved his daily life. His positive outlook and firsthand experience reminded us why advancing rare disease research matters so deeply.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their contributions — and especially to Prof. Franz Schäfer, Prof. Harald Schmidt, Prof. Abraham Bernstein, Prof. Marisa Karow-Falk, Prof. Alexander Möller, Prof. Willeke van Roon, Prof. Angelo Lombardo, Dr. Elena Guillén Benitez for their outstanding insights and the ethics panelists for the inspiring discussions: Prof. Janine Reichenbach, Kelly Ormond, Vanessa Grand and Dr. Elena Guillén Benitez , .
